We hosted a Mad Hatter Tea Party for my little one’s 7th birthday – or is it Un-birthday? Here she is as Alice in her own backyard Wonderland! It was a really fun (and slightly over-the-top) event!
We hung pretty paper lanterns from the trees, covered the tables with TableVogue linens and decorated the tables with an assortment of vintage china, birdhouses, bottles, teapots, clocks and other fun goodies. (Party secret: vases from Ikea (79 cents each) and cork stoppers from Michael’s made the “Drink Me” themed bottles of pink lemonade look extra special!)
An empty frame, wrapping paper and our gorgeous party banner made up the backdrop for the buffet table. Our rhinestone napkin rings, Eat Me party picks and Drink Me party straws worked to complete the party theme!
I hired my sweet (and very patient) neighbor girls to greet the guests, help them select their costumes and assist with the festivities. Don’t they look amazing?
I had prepared complete costumes for the girls so that they could pick which Wonderland character they wanted to be. We set up a little dressing room so that they could change and then have their faces painted to really get them in the mood. We had a white rabbit, a Cheshire Cat, a Jester, a Tweedle Dee, Tiger Lily, the White Swan, a butterfly, a ladybug, the Unicorn and other assorted mythical creatures! They were absolutely adorable!
We had such lovely weather, even the flamingos came to play a bit of croquet!
The Mad Hatter himself (a.k.a. Jolly Roger, the magician) showed up to entertain the girls with mischief, magic and mayhem!
Do I need to tell you that these lucky little girls had a ball?
We had so much fun that we can hardly wait to get back to Wonderland! Now which way was it again? XOXO, Janna
